I think this song sums up the whole album even though it's the only piano tune on it. It deals with the the themes of love and loss, regret and remorse, paranoia and perseverance all at once. Maggie May was the happy-go-lucky dog that kept running in and out of the studio that day.
lyrics
And if it's life that you need
You need not beg
You need not plead
'Cuz deep inside of my mind
You're still alive
And when it all goes away
We'll steal back better days
Come what may Maggie May
We'll celebrate
In another life
Come and go in the end
Easy come easy go
Come and go till the end of your life
It's the best
It's the best
Father, where you been?
Check my number, try again
And if that's all that you do
We'll still be cool
And if you call me back up
And I begin to throw up
That's just my anxiety
Trying to flee all my enemies
Come and go in the end
Here it comes there it goes
Come and go till the end of your life
It's the best
It's the best
It's at the end of the day
We all begin to get swayed
Let's just all howl at the moon
Make evil swoon
OOOOOOOH!!!!
But if I let me go free
Will I begin to be me?
Or will it all go to waste?
Or maybe I'm great, in another way
Come and go in the end
Easy come easy go
Come and go till the end of your life
It's the best
It's the best
That you'll ever know
